The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by lE staff as of this date.

BOMB THREAT l

At 11:07 p.m. on March 2,1978, a guard received a telephone call at .

the guard house from an anonymous male caller who stated, "A bomb will l go off in twenty-five minutes." When asked the location of the bomb, '

the caller hung up.

Since the call was received just prior to shift change, 241 workers ,

were released from work early. The 12:30 a.m. shift was permitted on site. Guards were dispatched to check for possible breaches in the security fence or foot prints in the freshly-fallen snow.

Notification of the threat was made by the licensee to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and to the Callaway County Sheriff's Office. No ,

additional security measures were instituted.  !

g No press release is planned by the licensee or RIII (Chicago).

RIII notified'the Chicago office of the FBI and local BATF office in accordance with previous agreements. The Information Assessment Team was notified. C

Callaway is under construction (12.2% completed) and is located /

approximately 30 miles northeast of Jefferson City, Missouri.

Notification of this incident was received by RIII from the QA Manager, j Union Electric Company at 2:00 p.m. on March 3,1978. ,c-
