Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. T. O. McKernon of this office

during the period June 26-30, 1989, of activities authorized by NRC Operating

License DPR-46 for Cooper Nuclear Station, and to the discussion of our,

findings with Mr. G. R. Horn and other members of your staff at the ccnclusion

of the inspection.

Areas examined during.the inspection included the plant modifications program

and the licensed operator training program. Within these areas, the. inspection

consisted of selective examination of procedures and. representative records,

interviews with personnel, and observations by the NRC inspector. The-

inspection findings are documented in the enclosed inspection report.

Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were

identified.

One unresolved item is identified in-paragraph 2 of the enclosed inspection

report..
