Summaries and Analysis of Results of Activities Required by the Environmental Protection Plan (EPP)

There have been no observed non-radiological impacts on the Environment during the reporting period. There has been no evidence of trends toward irreversible damage to the environment.

Section 4.2.1 - Aerial Remote Sensing Aerial Remote Sensing not required by the EPP for the year 1988.

Section 4.2.2 - Sound Level Survey Please'see the EPP Two-Unit Ambient Noise Survey attached. This report submittal concludes the EPP requirements for a noise survey.

The following complaints were received in 1988 in reference to noise.

1. Failure to submit copy of a nonroutine report, related to the release of hazardous waste into the soil, to the NRC at the same time it was submitted to the other agencies.

Corrective Action Notification of EPP requirements to individuals responsible for reportable releases under the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA). A copy of the nonroutine report related to the release of hazardous waste is attached.

4 5.4.1(2) - Changes in Station Design or Operation, Tests, and Experiments which Involve a Potentially Significant Unreviewed Question There were no changes identified which involved a potentially significant unreviewed question.

5.4.1(3) - Nonroutine reports submitted in accordance with subsection 5.4.2 of EPP.

A. A report to the South Carolina Emergency Response Commission and the York County Emergency Preparedness Agency dated March 31, 1988 related to the release of hydrazine into Lake Wylie.

B. A report to the South Carolina Emergency Response Commission and the York County Emergency Preparedness Agency dated November 9, 1988 related to the release of hazardous waste into the soil.

C. A report to the Environmental Protection Agency dated October 5, 1988 related to two separate oil spills into Lake Wylie.
