I would like to thank you for agreeing to serve as a member of the Materials Safety Regulation Review Study Group. The purpose of this Group is to review the activities related to safety for our licensing and inspection program for fuel cycle and materials facilities.
Your independent analysis and reconnenda-tions will be most helpful in guiding any adjustments in our program which might be indicated to improve safety and efficiency.
Dr. Donald A. Cool is appointed to act as liaison between the NRC staff and Study Group members. His duties will include providing background information l

Also enclosed for your information is a copy of the task description which established the study group. We will provide you with further details at a later date.
