SUBJECT:
STATUS OF LACROSSE I. The Lacrosse Boiling Water Reactor at Lacrosse. Wisconsin was perr.anently shut down on April 30, 1987. Removal of all fuel from the reactor was conpleted June 11,1987, in the present plar.t configuration, no new fission products are being produced. The radioactivity of the fission products in the fuel has decayed to approxim6tely 161 of the activity 6t shutdown and is continuing to l decay. The licensee has requested that its license be amended to a possess-but-not-operatestetos(seeenclosure).
The licer.see is expected to submit a revised emergency plan within three mcr.t h s . The NRC staff is deferring any actions relating to emergency prepared-ness until the plan is submitted.
