Proposed Revision to DPC-NF-2010A, " Nuclear Physics Methodology for Reload Methodology" (66332/66333)

By letter dated August 17, 1987, you submitted a proposed revision to the report DPC-NF-2010A to permit the use of CASM0-2E/ DUKE for the generation of cross sections used in EPRI-N0DE-P for reload design of the McGuire and Catawba Stations. Your justification of the revision was based upon a com-parison of measured core physics data with values calculated using the CASMO methodology.

Our audit of the statistical treatment of these comparisons reveals several gross mathematical errors. Because the benchmark comparisons are the crux of your justification and are in error, we find the submittal unacceptable.

No further review of the proposed revision of DPC-NF-2010A is planned.
