o i4 ENCLOSURE REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ITEM 2.2 (PART 2) " VENDOR INTERFACE (PROGRAMS FOR ALL SAFETY-RELATED COMPONENTS)"
ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNITS 1&2 Review of the licensee's responses, dated November 5, 1983, May 27, 1985 and July 26, 1985 for Item 2.2.2 of Generic Letter 83-28 did not show an acceptable i
response for this item.
To. resolve this concern, the staff needs the response-to provide the following type of'information.
(a) Describe briefly your formal vendor interface program with~B&W'and CE, the NSSS vendors for ANO-1&2.
This description should include description of periodic contact with B&W and CE, means by which receipt.of technical information from B&W and CE is acknowledged, and means by which AP&L assesses that they have received all technical information sent out by B&W and CE.
(b) Formal interface programs fulfilling the requirements in (a) above should
'be established with the vendors of the emergency diesel' generators and.
the major vendor of safety-related switchgear.
Licensee's response should briefly describe these interfaces including the information feedback provisions.
(c) The licensee should establish a program of informal periodic contact with the vendors of key safety-related components (such as auxiliary feedwater pumps, ECCS pumps, safety-related batteries, and safety-related valve operators) to facilitate acquisition of current technical and maintenance information.
Licensee's response should confirm the existence or establishment of such a program and briefly describe it.
(d) To supplement the program contained in (a), (b), (c) above and to address the problem of vendors who have gone out of business or with whom interfaces cannot be established, the NUTAC/VETIP program can be used.
If this program is referenced, the licensee's response should identify the plant procedures involved, and describe briefly how these procedures were modified to properly control and implement this program and to incorporate the enhancements described in sections 3.2 and 4.1 of the NUTAC report (INP0-84-010).
