Re: Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 By letter datec June 12, 1986 from G.W. Rivenbark to J.T. Beckham, Georgia Power Company was informed that the NRC staff had completed its review of GPC's response to Item 2.1 (Part 1) of Generic Letter 83-28, relating to identification and classification of Reactor Trip System (RTS) components.

The staff inforned you by that letter that it had found GPC's responses to Item 2.1 (Part 1) acceptable, Part 2 of Item 2.1, Generic Letter 83-28, required licensees to confirm l that an interface had been established with the NSSS supplier or the vendors of each of the RTS . components which provided for (1) periodic communication between the licensee and the NSSS supplier or the RTS component vendors, and (2) a system of positive feedback to confirm receipt by the licensee of ,

transmittals of vencor technical information regarding the RTS components. 1 The staff has now coupleted its review of the GPC responses to Item 2.1 (Part 2) as documented in GPC submittals dated November 7,1983, February 29, 1984, i and June 3, 1985. The enclosed Safety Evaluation, which is based upon a contractor report, also enclosed, documents our finding that your responses to Item 2.1 (Part 2) of Generic Letter 83-28 are acceptable.
