Alternate Heat Sink by Sweeping RCS and Using Steam Generator CK G0RY ho J I. PURPOSE The purpose of this section of the 50I.is to establish alternate heat sink using steam generator. .The.first method is to sweep the RCS by running a RCP for a short period of~ time. . This will circulate & mix the RCS. The second method will use.the S/G PORVs. This method will be '

implemented if for some reason the repair work can not.be completed or the plate installed. This method will require RCS temperature > 212*F before it can become effective.

II. SYMPTOMS

1. RCS temperature > 190*F during performance of repair work on ,

2-FCV-74.2. I k

III. INSTRUCTIONS i

1. Establish conditions for running a RCP per SOI-68.2 (Loop 2 perferred).
2. Start a RCP per 501-68.2.(Loop 2 perferred) to sweep RCS.
3. Stop RCP per S01-68.2 after S minutes.
4. Continue to start RCP at time intervals as determined by SRO to sweep RCS if the following conditions are met:
a. Sweeping RCS provides effective Heat Removal Method
b. Conditions for running RCPs per SOI-68.2 continue-to be met
c. Motor start limitations are met
1) Only one RCP will be started at any one time.
2) Two successive starts are permitted providing the motor is allowed to coast to a stop between starts. A third start may be made when the winding and the rotor core have cooled by running for a period of 20 minutes after the second start or by standing idle for a period of 45 minutes. Starts should not average more than six per day throughout the life of the motor.
