           Subject:     Inspection Report No. 50-213/87-26
           This letter refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by A. A. Varela
           of this office on August 31 - September 4,1987 at the Haddam Neck Plant. Mr.
           Varela discussed the findings of the inspection with Mr. D. Miller of your
           staff at the conclusion of the inspection and in a subsequent telephone
           discussion on September 10, 1987.
           Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspection
           Report enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted
           of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews
           with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
