SPECIAL REPORT CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 2 VIBRATION AND LOOSE PARTS MONITOR SYSTD1 INOPERABILITY OF CHANNEL NO. 6

On September 1, 1987 channel No.'6 of the Unit 2 Vibration and Loose Parts
' Monitor System'was declared inoperabic. Work Request 380000PS was written to investigate and repair the channel. The repair will be carried out during a future outage.
Since the channel ahs been inoperable.more than 30 days, this is reportable to the NRC pursuant to Technical Specification 3.3.3.9.
