SUBJECT:
ANNUAL REPORT 1
Gentlemen:
This is a report of the quantity of each of the principal radionuclides released to the environment in all effluents during calendar year 1988. The report is provided pursuant to Materials License No. SNM-2500, Technical Specification 8.2.1 to enable the Commission to estimate the maximum potential radiation dose commitment to the public resulting from effluent release.
Radioactive material releases from the Morris Operation are insignificant. The quantities and resultant concentrations are such that measurement is difficult. Thus, this report of principal radionuclides released references a technical study report, "In-Plant Test Measurements for Spent Fuel Storage at Morris Operation, Volume 1:
Gaseous Radionuclides Release Rates", NEDG-24922-1, which shows that actual measurements made using complex sampling and laboratory analysis techniques result in releases lower than the minimum detection levels which correspond to the routine methods of measurement.
Routine measurements arc made of particulate radionuclides collected on filters in the stack. The quantity of these solid radionuclides is so small that they are not reported as principal radionuclides.
