Dear Mr. Butterfield:
SUBJECT:
BRAIDWOOD UNITS 1 AND 2 - REVIEW OF PROPOSED EXCEPTIONS TO REGULATORY GUIDES 1.52 AND 1.140 (TAC NOS. 65601 AND 65602)
By letters dated March 25 and June 23, 1987, Commonwealth Edison Company
{
proposed a number of additions and clarifications regarding conformance with the criteria of Regulatory Guides 1.52 and 1.140, which concern engineered safety feature (ESF) and non-ESF atmospheric cleanup filter systems, respectively.
The proposed additions and clarifications result in no degradation in the l
construction and testing of the filter system; therefore, these proposed l
exceptions are acceptable. Since these proposed exceptions basically provide clarification as to how the criteria of the subject regulatory guides are met l
by the Braidwood filter system design, no changes to our previous evaluation l
on this subject are necessary. The existing safety evaluation report input on this subject remains valid.
Sincerely, Original Signed by/
