Terry R. Lash, Director State of Illinois FEB 2 8129 Department of Nuclear Safety 1035 Outer Park Drive Springfield, Illinois 62704
Dear Mr. Lash:
Your letter of January 12, 1989 suggested that access to the NRC Safety Issue Management System (SIMS) would assist your department in its attempts to track resolution and implementation of nuclear plant safety issues.
As you may know, the NRC SIMS database was developed in the 1987 timeframe as a means of tracking the status of generic safety issue resolution and implementation on a plant specific basis. We are presently in the process of verifying the accuracy of the plant specific data and expect to complete this task by mid 1989. At that time, we will be pleased to share with you on a quarterly basis the plant specific implementation status for plants located in the State of Illinois. Mr. Edward G. Greenman, the NRC Region III, Division Director with the responsibility for the Illinois nuclear plants will contact Mr. Gary Wright of your staff to arrange a meeting to discuss the implementation status data as soon as We complete our data verification process.
Sincerely, cre.nl eicned b7 r
