COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)

DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 NOV 50-445/8871-V-03 (SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT)

REF: 'TU Electric Letter TXX-88828 from W. G. Counsil to NRC dated December 19, 1988 Gentlemen:

The referenced letter provided the TV Electric response to Notice of Violation (NOV) 50-445/8871-V-03. The letter stated that a supplemental response would be provided to describe: 1) an assessment of the implications of the subject violation and any related corrective actions, and 2) any additional actions resulting from a technical audit of NPSI.

Item 1 This activity is still in progress.

NPS Industries completed a testing program on January 29, 1989, as part of a program to assess the implications of the swing angle interference violation on other structural configurations.

. The test program results report is scheduled to be issued by March 1,1989.

Based on the test program data, the design engineering contractor will evaluate the impact of swing angle interference on other structural configurations, and provide recommended corrective actions.

These-recommendations are scheduled to be submitted to TV Electric by April 7,1989.

An update of the status of this activity will be provided by May 15, 1989.

Item 2 TV Electric has completed a technical design audit of the vendor's design control program associated wit h the design of.itandard component supports.

One deficiency was identifimi.

Corrective actions for this deficiency have been initiated by NPS Industries.

An audit report was issued by TV Electrir on February 24, 1989.

The audit report did not identify the need for any additional corrective actions.
