4' A. PURPOSE-

'The purpose of this guidance is to outline corporate requirements for shift coverage by Radiation Chemistry Technician, (RCT), Foremen.

.B. SCOPE' This guidance'will apply.to all' Nuclear Stations under the conditions outlined in Section C, POLICY.

C. POLICY The' practice of requiring continuous RCT Foreman Shift Coverage may be-relaxed on weekends and holidays if all of the following conditions are met:

1. The station is not in a refueling outage.
2. There are less than four RCTs required to be on a shift.

'3 . At least one RCT on the shift is ANSI qualified in the area of radiation protection.

4 .= All.RCT duties are specified in writing for the shift (e.g.,

worksheet, checklist, etc.).

5. The senior RCT on duty will. meet with the shift engineer within one hour at the beginning of each shift for operating conditions / activities and instructions as appropriate.
6. An RCT Foreman or Health Physicist is on call.

The Station Manager must authorize the relaxation of the requirement in writing and provide a copy of this authorization to the Radiation 4 Protection Director.
