SUMMARY

1 I

Month:

January, 1989 i

McGuire Unit 1 began the month of January at reduced power in preparation for a Post Refueling Outage Turbine Overspeed Trip Test. The unit was removed from service at 0129 on 01/01 for the test, and returned to service at 0406 the same day. The unit then increased power to 25% at 0625 on 01/01, where power was held to evaluate Intermediate Range Excore Nuclear Instrumentation Currents.

The unit then held power at 32% on 01/01 to work on a Main Feedwater System At 2119 on.1/01, power was reduced.to 30% to repair a Main Turbine 0

Valve.

Hydraulic Oil System leak. The unit then experienced brief holds at 38% power I

on 01/02, for Power Escalation Testing, at 49% power on 01/04, to work on the l

moveable Incore Detector System and at 77% power on 01/05, for Nuclear j

Instrumentation Calibration. The unit then operated at or near 100% power the.

l remainder of the month, without any further significant reductions.
