INOPERABLE IN ZONE 32

Dear Mr. Martin:

, The Sacramento Municipal Utility District hereby submits Special Report No. 87-11 in accordance with Technical Specifications, Section 3.14 and 6.9.5.E.

During Cold Shutdown conditions on May 18, 1987, at 10:05 P.M.,

Fire Zone 32 Detection and Water Spray Subsystems were placed under clearance (i.e., tagged out) due to reoccurring audible alarms and trouble signals on panel H3FPA. Fire Zone 32 covers the Turbine Building Main Lubricating oil Area on the grade level.

Work Request No. 130420 was issued to troubleshoot and repair the subsystems. The subsystems listed above are scheduled to be returned to service before September 1, 1987. In the meantime, the compensatory measure, to establish fire watches, is beir g performed per Section 3.14.3.2 of the Technical Specifications for the above-listed fire zone.
