Zion Nuclear Power Station Units 1 and 2 proposed Amendment to Facility Operating License Nos. DpR-39 and DPR-48 j Shock Suppressors (Snubbers)

NRC Docket Nos. 50-295 and 50-304 i

l Gentlemen:

Attachment 1 to this letter is a proposed amendment to Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-39 and DPR-48, Appendix A, Section 4.22.2-Shock Suppressors (Snubbers). This proposed amendment is a one-time request designed to allow the visual inspection of snubbers to be performed during planned refueling outages.

Attachment 2 provides a detailed description of the proposed 1 amendment and outlines the background associated with this request. It demonstrates that this proposed amendment is requesting to take credit for a i Unit 2 snubber inspection that was performed 40 days earlier than is l currently allowed. In addition, this change is requesting an approximate 30 i day delay in an analogous Unit I snubber inspection. These schedule alterations are required to preclude an unnecessary shutdown on each of the Zion Units.

d Attachment 3 contains Commonwealth Edison Company's demonstration l that this proposed amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration. This change has received On-site and off-site review and approval.

A $150.00 remittance is enclosed in accordance with 10 CFR 170. 'As provided by 10 CFR 50.91, the State of Illinois is being notified of this amendment request by transmittal of a copy of this letter and the attachments.
