JAN 5 1989 Docket No. 50-346 Toledo Edison Company ATTN: Mr. Donald Shelton Vice President Nuclear Edison Plaza 300 Madison Avenue Toledo, OH 43652 Gentlemen: The enclosed report refers to a special onsite review by a NRC Maintenance Inspection Team on November 2-6, 1987, as a followup to the reactor trip and subsequent equipment problems which occurred at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station on September 6, 1987. The inspection was performed to evaluate the material condition of the plant and the status of the maintenance workload. The report identifies four selected systems and their associated maintenance backlog which were inspected. Within the areas, the inspection consisted of a review of representative records, system walkdowns, and interviews with personnel. No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this inspection. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
