REACTOR INCIDENT IN RUSSIA i
The progressive development of this issue in the short term has developed a great deal of governinental and public interest in determining the facts of the matter and the various actions that must be taken as those facts are analyzed. There is a strong determination on the part of the U.S. Government to speak with one voice on all matters that relate to the issue. Shortly, various agency roles will be more clearly defined.
Until roles and responsibilities are established, it is necessary for NRC to provide for the release of information to the public and other governmental agencies to assure that we speak accurately and with a coordinated voice.
To that end, all requests for information from sources external to the agency should be channeled through Joseph Fouchard, OPA (if the report is from the media); Thomas Rehm, OEDO who will be responsible for coordination with OCA (if the source is Congressional); and Harold Denton, NRR (if the source is intra-governmental).
