The NRC staff has reviewed the proposed implementation of the ATWS Rule 1
.(10 CFR 50.62) requirements as related totthe Callaway Plant.. The staff J
concludes, subject to final resolution of the technical specification issue, i
that the design proposed for Callaway Plant is acceptable. The staf.f's con-l clusion is further subject to the successful completion of certain human
}
factors engineering reviews to which you have comitted.
The staff has also reviewed your proposed implementation schedule ~of June 1989, as committed to in your December 16, 1987 latter. The staff finds your a
proposed schedule and justification for delayed implementation to be reasonable.
A copy of the related Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
