This is a request under the Ireedom of Information Act

I hereby request all records related to degradation of service water piping at the Pilgrur. Nuclear Power Station.

I reserve the Attorney GenerC.*s right to appeal the v.ttholding or deletion of any mzcerial.

As authorized in the Nuclear Hegulatory Commission's regulations at 10. C.F.R. S 9.14E;a)(2), we believe that inmishing these requested docummt.s without charge to the Massachusetts Department of the Ict.orney General would be a governmental courtesy appropriate to this request, particularly c.ren the importance of the docuse=cs sought and our limited tu6 set.

As you know, the FOIA also au hrnrizes you to reduce or waive fees when release of reques:en information would benefit

":he public interest." As Attorrey General for the casumonwealth, we believe the infcc:mantion requested would c'.early be in the public interest, and therefore the fees for searching and reproduction should hee waived. The documents reqwested are for the Attorney Geie:al's review of the conduct o' the Boston Edison Company duri2g the recent outage of the P.lgrim Nuclear Power Plant. The Attorney General conducts s1ctn a review regarding the reascnarnleness of the company's a:tions as part of his representa:i:nn of Massachusetts c:nsumers before the Massachusetts Department of Public D:ilities. Provision of the requested documents with waiver of fee will both facilitate this rev ew process and reduce the c:s: of providing this governmentti service for Massachusetts c.ttzens. -
