SUDJECT:
SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT ON RELIEF REQUEST RELATED TO THE FIRST TEN-YEAR INTERVAL INSERVICE-INSPECTION PROGRAM FOR THE GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION. UNIT.1 (TAC #65984, 65610 AND C6631)
In letters dated June 12, August 14, October 26, and November 19, 1987, the
. System Energy Resources, Inc. (the Licensee), requested relief from certain
- Section XI ASME Code requirements related to the first ten-year interval Inservice Inspection Program for the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1.
The
' Licensee met with the staff on October 15, 1987, in support of the requests'.
The Materials Engineering Branch, Division of Engineering and Systems Technology, with technical assistance from its. contractor, Idaho National Er.gineering Laooratory, has evaluated the determinations made by the Licensee in support of the relief requests.
We concluded that the examination requirements of Section XI ASME Code (77579) are impractical for the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1.
Pursuant to 10 CFR 1-00004 (Rev. 2),
50.55a(g()(6)(1), relief is aranted for the following requests: Revised),I-00010(Rev.1),1 I-00009 I-00017 and I-00018. Our Safety Evaluation Report, INEL Safety Evaluation Report, and a SALP Report are attached.
This completes our work on TAC #65984, #65610 and #66631.
