Dear Mr. Fisher:
Your Quality Assurance Program A)oroval No. 0539 is hereby terminated. The Nuclear Re ulatory Commission mlished a final rule, effective June 27, 1997, revising t e requirements of 1) CFR Part 34. " Licenses for Industrial Radiography and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revision, which contained numerous changes in the requirements, also modified the quality assurance (0A) requirements for transportation. As a result of these changes, a separate NRC OA program approval is no longer needed.
Specifically, transoortation activities are now contained in a new paragraph.
10 CFR 71.101(g). This provision was added to the regulations and requires that ins devices,pection sourceand maintenance changers, programs or packages limited tothese transportin radiocraphic cevices exposure and meeting the rovisions of 10 CFR Part 34.31(b). or equiva ent Agreement State rego ations, satisfy the general license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type B transport packages.
