AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE O? UHIO We are pleased to announce that the Nuclear Regul tory Commission (NRC) has approved an Agreement with the State of Ohio. Effective on Augugt 31,1999, the Agreement transfers regulatory authority over certain radioactive materials {to the State. The Agreement is authorized by section 274b of the Atomic Energy Act.

The Agreement, together with the Commission's regulations in 10 CFR Part 150, describes the full scope of the transferred authority. We have publ shed the Agreement in the Federal Reaister. and posted it at the NRC Internet website. To view the Agreement, click on the News and Information icon, then select " Staff Papers" und r the " Commission" heading. The Agreement, with supporting documentation, is in the ommission paper numbered SECY 179. The Part 150 regulations may slso be viewed at the NRC website.

We have transferred most of the NRC licensees baked in Ohio to the State. Fede Government agencies, and licenses that authorize special nuclear material in greater than l formula quantities, will remain under NRC jurisdictioh.
