I MOTION BY CITIZENS AGAINST NUCLEAR TRASH

(" CANT")

FOR AN EXTENSION OF TIME

/

Intervenor, citizens Against Nuclear Trash

(" CANT"), hereby requests an extension of time from April 28,1998 to May 4, 1998 to respond to the Ccunission's Order of April 23, 1998.

On April 22, 1998, Applicant, Louisiana Energy Services, L.P.

("LES") filed a mrtion with the Commission to withdraw its license application and t grminate this proceeding.

On April 23, 1998 the Commission ordertid the parties to file answers, if any, to LES's I

motion by April M, 1998.

On April 27, 1998, the Licensing Board j

ordered the parties to file any responses to LES's motion by May 4, l

1998.

i Because it would be more efficient to respond to both orders at one time, and because undersigned counsel for CANT has been out of the office and thus did not receive the Commiscion's Order until April 27, 1998, ChNT hereby requests an extension of time until May 4,

1998 so that a

response to both orders may be filed

simultaneously.

Further, in the event that CANT finds it necessary to brief the terms and conditions under.which'LES's motion should be granted, given ::ther scheduling demands, two business days would be insufficient time for CANT to respond to che Commission's Order.

l i

Undersigned counsel was unable to reach either counsel for LES i

1 or the NRC Staff regarding this matter.

Respectfully submitted, k Md[
