Dear Mr. Pierson:

By letter dated March 27,1998, (Reference 1) you requested that USEC provide an updated construction schedule for the seismic upgrades to buildings C-331 and C-335, showing intermediate major milestones to be met in order to complete the modifications by June 30,1999. In addition,

l you requested that USEC provide a monthly update on the progress of the installation of the j

modifications, beginning May 15,1998.

The requested schedule, including intermediate major milestones, is provided in Enclosure 1 to this

- letter. As described in our letter dated March 27,1998, (Reference 2) transmitting the revised Issue 36 to the Compliance Plan, Amendment 15 to the Certificate of Compliance GDP-1 reduces the time originally determined by USEC to be required for implementation of the seismic modifications to Buildings C-331 and C-335 from 18 months to 15 months. USEC will, however, proceed on a best-effort basis to complete the modifications by June 30,1999.

USEC will provide monthly updates on the progress of the installation of the modifications, identifying any problems that may jeopardize meeting the June 30,1999 completion date. The r.ionthly updates will be submitted by the 15th of each month and will describe the construction progress made during the previous month. The first update will be provided by May 15,1998.
