REVISION TO THE OPERATIONAL-QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM, WOLF CREEK GENERATING STATION (TAC NO. M99631) 4

Dear Mr. Maynard:

The staff has received your proposed revision to the Operational Quality Assurance Program description ;or the Wolf Creek facility dated September -12, 1997, pursuant to 10 CFR.50.54(a)(3).

The revision involves the reassignment of responsibility for the review of administrative procedures, both newly issued procedures and changes to existing procedures, from the Quality Evaluations group to a Qualified Reviewer (OR). The use of a OR at Wolf Creek was previously found acceptable by the NRC.for the review and approval of other plant procedures and changes thereto as documented in Amendment No. 73 i

to Facility Operating License No. NPF 42 transmitted by letter dated April 28, 1994.

You have indicated that the proposed change is a reduction in commitment requiring NRC staff review and approval prior to implementation.

4 Based on our current review schedule. it is estimated that more than 60 days will be required to complete our review.

We will-transmit the results of our review upon completion.
