Dear Mr. Hungei:

The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 224 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-56 for the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS), Unit No.

3. This amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications (TSs) in response to your application dated January 17, 1995, as supplemented by letters dated March 30, 1995, July 2, 1996, February 28, 1997, and September 22, 1997.

This a.aendment revises the TSs to support PBAPS Modification P00271, which would replace the Source Range and Intermediate Range Munitors with the Wide Range Neutron Monitoring System. Your January 17, 1995, application proposed applying the amendment to both / Units 2 and 3. However, in your September 22, 1997, letter, you indicated j

        - that you scheduled modification P00271 to be installed on Unit 3 during the fall 1997 refueling outage, and on Unit 2 during the fall 1998 refueling Dk,,

cutage. You further requested us to not issue the Unit 2 WRNMS amendment earlier than September 1,1998. Accordingly, we will issue the Unit 2 q amendment just prior to refueling outage 2R12 to incorporate any subsequent i amendments affecting thn rame TS pages. You are requested to inform the staff when you have implemented the provisions of this amendment.
