NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-498/91-16; 50-499/91-16
This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. A. f. Howell and
M. F. Runyan of the Region IV office, and G. F. Dick of the Office of Nuclear
Reactor Regulation, during the periods of May 2-10 and 28-31, 1991.
The
inspection included a review of activities authorized for the South Texas
Project, Units 1 and 2.
At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were
discussed with those msmbers of your staff identified in the enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures
and representative records and interviews with personnel.
Within the scnce of this inspection, no violations or deviations were
identified.
On May 10, 1991, a management meeting was held in the Region IV office with
members of your staf f.
The purpose of this meeting, which was requested by
your staff, was to discuss plant status and the implementation of the
Operational Improvement Plan. A copy of the management meeting summary is
attached as Appendix B.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's ' Rules of Practice," a copy of
this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to
discuss them with you.
