WITHDRAWAL-OF RELIEF REQUEST - BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. M90814 AND M90815)
Dear Mr. Hinnant:
This acknowledges your letter dated August 26. 1997, withdrawing a request for relief from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME Code).Section XI, submitted by Carolina Power
& Light Company (CP&L) on October 6. 1994.
The requested relief pertained to the use of 10 CFR 50,- Appendix J leakage testing as an alternative to 10-year hydrostatic pressure testing of the standby gas treatment and containment atmosphere control systems.
CP&L has determined that testing in accordance with the ASME Code is achievable and a relief request is no longer needed.
