Subject:

Training and Experience of Initial License Candidate l

Dear Mr. Leach:

j As requested in our March 6,1998, telephone conference call, Toledo Edison submits the l

attached training and experience summary for initial license candidate, Mr. Paul J. Wadsworth.

The Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS) Operator Training Programs meet the requirements of 10CFR55 and are Institute of Nuclear Power Operations accredited. In accordance with the DBNPS Technical Specifications, candidates for operating licenses shall meet or exceed the requirements of the American National Standard (ANSI) N18.1 - 1971 i

edition. Toledo Edison is committed to the regulatory position of Regulatory Guide 1.8, l

" Qualification and Training of Personnel for Nuclear Plants," Revision 1-R dated September, i

1975.

l Mr. Wadsworth's performance in Radiation Protection (RP) and experience in coordinating RP activities with the operational aspects of the plant resulted in his selection by DBNPS management through progression planning as a viable candidate for the Instant Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) Program and his transfer into the Plant Operations Section. Mr. Wadsworth's selection as an Instant SRO candidate is consistent with the requirements listed above. Mr.

Wadsworth, in his position as a DBNPS Health Physicist, has been involved with day-to-day plant activities similar as would be expected of a power plant staff engineer.
