This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. P. Milano, R. Pettis, P. Prescott, L. Cheung, and J. Diperna of this office on September 15-19, 1986 at your facility, and to the discussion of the results with you and your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
The purpose of the inspection was to review facility modifications designed by Yankee Nuclear Service Division for the Maine Yankee unit to ensure conformance with licensing commitments and industry standards and to verify the proper functioning of the design control program. The specific areas examined during the inspection are discussed in the enclosed report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of an examination of representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspection team.
Within the scope of this inspection, no instances were found where there were failures to meet NRC requirements.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
