Docket Nos. 50-361'and 50-362 Follow-up Report, Inoperable Fire Doors - September 1986 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station,. Units 2 and 3

Letter, H. E. Morgan-(SCE) to J. B. Martin (NRC),
dated September 12, 1986 In accordance with our referenced letter, this submittal provides the follow-up report of fire-rated assemblies (specifically fire doors) found inoperable during routine surveillances in-September 1986.
Fire doors.found inoperable during the' September routine surveillances are identified in the Attachment and include: 13 latching mechanism failures, and 2 closure mechanism failures. No doors were found blocked open in September.
As each of these deficiencies was identified, compensatory fire watches, pursuant to Technical Specification 3.7.9, Action Statement 'a', were established. Door mechanism failures are being corrected on an "as found" basis.
