SUBJECT:
SIMILARITY OF BYRON 1 AND BYRON 2 REGARDING PUMP AND VALVE OPERABILITY AND SEISMIC QUALIFICATION As you requested, Comonwealth Edison confirmed in a telephone call on October 28, 1986 that all the safety-related pumps and valve, and the safety-related electrical and mechanical equipment that requires seismic and dynamic qualification, are identical for Byron 1 and Byron 2, with one exception. The Electrical Penetration Assemblies for Unit 1 are made by Conax Corporation, while those for Unit 2 are made by Bunker Remo. This difference was given to our audit team during its September 13 - September 17, 1982 audit of Byron.
Thus, I conclude that the Section 3.10 of Supplement No. 5 applies to both Byron Units.
