Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Proposed Operating License Change Request No. 126 Gentlemen:
Enclosed are 1.
Three (3) originals and thirty-seven (37) copies of an Application for knendment to our operating license to revise the Control Room Emergency Habitability System requirements.
The changes are proposed to account for the increased capacity of the system due to the planned removal of the wall between the Unit 1 and Unit 2
control rooms.
The proposed knendment reflects the increased capacity of the Control Room Emergency Bottled Air Pressurization System (CREBAPS) and the Control Room Emergency Ventilation System (CREVS),
and updates the operability and surveillance requirements for these systems accordingly.
In
- addition, the amendment would lower the maximum control room air temperature requirements for consistency with Unit 2 Technical
(
Specifications and remove the Unit 2
control room area fire detection instrumentation from the Unit 1
Technical j
Specifications.
l Since this amendment is necessary to allow removal of the wall between the Unit 1
and Unit 2 control rooms, we would like to negotiate with the Project Manager the effective date of this license amendment to coincide with removal of the wall.
In
- addition, the deletion of Unit 2
control room area fire detection instrumentation from Unit 1 Technical Specifications should occur when Unit 2 Technical specifications are effective.
This will ensure that there will be no lapse in the fire detector surveillance requirements.
Therefore, we would like to negotiate the timing of the effective date for this particular change as well.
