Acceptance of the Offsite Dose Calculation Manual Updated Through Revision 12 for la Salle County Station, Units 1 and 2 In your monthly operating reports dated November 1985, and May 1986, Comonwealth Edison submitted Revisions 11 and 12, respectively, for the la Salle County Station, Units 1 and 2, "Offsite Dose Calculation Manual" (0DCM). We have reviewed the ODCM, updated through Revision 12, and find that the ODCM generally uses documented and approved methods that are consistent with the methodology and guidelines in NUREG-0133, " Preparation of Radiological Effluent Technical Specifications for Nuclear Power Plants." This is an acceptable reference.
A copy of our Safety Evaluation (SE) is enclosed. Attached to the SE is our contractor's (EG&G Idaho, Inc.) Technical Evaluation Report (TER). The TER identified number of typographical corrections, as well as problems relative to calculations of the gaseous effluent dose rate and dose. Since these
_ questions involve refinements to a basically sound document, there is no need for immediate action. However, the questions should be considered in your next revision to the ODCM.
As a result of this review, we find that the La Salle Unit 1 and 2 ODCM, updated through Revision 12, is acceptable and that the changes incorporated i
in Revisions 11 and 12 are in compliance with La Salle Units 1 and 2 Technical Specification 6.8.2.
