Dear Senator Cranston:
At our Board meeting on August.6 several of the members asked what information was available on the possible effect of the Chernobyl nuclear accident on fruit crops in surrounding countries.
Obviously, apricot growers are interested and potentially concerned about any possible harmful effect on Turkey's dried apricot crop.
Since the majority of this product is brought into this country any problem of this kind could have a devastating impact on the consumption of all apricots in this country.
I would appreciate receiving any information you might be aware of on this subject or, if you are aware of a potential source of k owledge that would help also.
