requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, four categories of records concerning importation of products into the United States that may have been contaminated by radiation resulting from the April 26, 1986 accident at the Chernobyl nuclear reactor in the Soviet Union.

With regard to category four, the NRC report NUREG-1250, page 8-15, references such information. A copy of NUREG-1250 is available for inspection and copying at the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), 1717 H l

Street, NW, Washington, DC. Additional NRC records are identified on the 1

enclosed appendix, and they are being placed in PDR file F01A-87-153 under your name.

With respect to categories one, two, and three, records originated by the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Agriculture are being referred to them for disclosure determinations and direct responses to you.
