Control Room Preliminary Environmental Survey l

By letter dated April 10, 1987, Georgia Power Company (GPC) provided information regarding a control room preliminary environmental (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) survey. Based on our review of this, it appears as if the control room may be too cool. Accordingly, we are requesting that GPC provide some spe-cific information as part of its Supplemental Summary) Report on the detailed control room design review (license condition 2.C(7)c to be submitted by March 1, 1988. The infonnation requirements are presented in the enclosure.

ENCLOSURE Information Required as Part of DCRDR Supplemental Summary Report (License Condition 2.C(7)c) 1.

Conduct the final control room environmental survey under both heating and air conditioning environments.

2.

Perform humidity and temperature readings at floor level and at the 6 foot level as part of the final survey.

3.

Obtain subjective readings on the control room environment (humidity, temperature and air velocity) under both heating and air conditioning environments from each crew member over a period of several days by pro-viding each individual with a brief survey soliciting opinion on their comfort level. Summarize and discuss these findings in the summary report.

4 In the supplemental report, clarify whether temperatures are we t bulb or dry bulb.
