On October 2, 1986, we received an allegation regarding the storage of electrical cable and Quality First at the Braidwood Station. The alleger apparently identified millions of feet of missing electrical cable at Braidwood. At the time, the alleger wrote memos to management and no corrective action was taken. The cable was from the warehouse, and to the alleger's knowledae, none of the missing cable had been removed from the site.
Subsequently, the alleger brought this issue to the Commonwealth Construction Superintendent, the L. K. Comstock Project Manager, and Quality First. The alleger believes that there is a breakdown of the Quality First organization since they apparently declined to review the issue due to insufficient information.
We request that you conduct a timely review of this allegation using an organization which is independent of the aforementioned parties. Should your review bring into question a safety issue, we expect that it will be promptly brought to our attention. We will review the documentation regarding your review of this matter during a future onsite inspection. This allegation is tracked by our AMS No. RIII-86-A-0167.
