CHAIRMAN June 18, 1987 l
Mr. C. H.. Dean, 'Jr., Chairman jl Mr. John B. Waters, Director j
Tennessee Valley Authority l
Knoxville, Tennessee 37902 l
Gentlemen:
[
I have received your letter of June 12, 1987 stating your concerns on additional review' requirements for TVA's Sequoyah Nuclear Plant.
I have forwarded your letter to the Executive Director for Operations, as well as my fellow Consnissioners, so that they are fully aware of your concerns.
Both the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Tennessee Valley Authority share a vital. commitment to ensure the safe operation of nuclear facilities.
I assure you that no requirements are levied on any licensee to single them out from the rest of the industry. The NRC's regulatory actions result from considered judgments on how the interests of safety are 4
best served.
j Mr. Keppler will keep TVA informed on the pace of the review. Thank you for making your views available to the Commission and I appreciate your commitment to the safe operation of your nuclear facilities.
Sincerely, l
i.-
