V0GTLE UNIT 1 - STATUS OF FACILITY COMPLETION The NRC will issue an operating license to GPC for Vogtle Unit 1 once we have concluded that the commitments in the FSAR for preparing that facility for operation have been met.
Your letter to me dated November 14, 1986, generally described the status of your implementation of these commitments.
I understand that you will send me another letter which more specifically describes the status of completion of the facility including those items which will not be completed by the time of licensing.
Enclosed is a memorandum prepared by Region II to inform the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation of the status of preparedness for licensing Vogtle Unit 1.
This memorandum includes items requiring inspection and resolution before a finding of readiness for operation can be made.
The status of items listed in the enclosure will be closely monitored by the NRC to provide timely assessment of readiness for operation.
In addition to the items listed in the enclosed memorandum, we are reviewing your status reports onsite and inspecting construction, testing and staffing activities underway to close open items on these reports We will keep you informed of the results of our assessment. This letter and the enclosure are being placed in the Public Document Room.
