NRC Region III recently received an. allegation concerning alleged cocaine sales at the Braidwood Nuclear Station involving individuals who may have worked at Dresden Station. The attachment to this letter is a description of the allegation received and the identity of some of the personnel allegedly involved in the prohibited activities.

The attachment to this letter should be strictly controlled and distribution limited to personnel only with a "need-to-know" to protect the personal privacy of the individuals while your investigation is in progress. The attachment is considered as exempt from public disclosure in accordance with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2.790(a)(7).

NRC Region III expects that the Commonwealth Edison Company (CECO) will analyze the allegation, initiate the appropriate investigation, and take appropriate action as necessary in order to address the specific allegation and potential consequences of the allegation, if substantiated.

Due to the nature of the allegation, coordination with local law enforcement agencies may be appropriate.

We further request that.the results of your review and disposition of this matter be submitted to NRC Region III after completion. Documentation supporting your results should be maintained onsite for any further inspection by NRC Region III.
