Acceptance of Stainless Steel Piping Inspection Plan for La Salle County Station, Unit 2.
By letters dated August 19, 1986 and September 12, 1986, you submitted your augmented piping inspection plan to be performed at La Salle County Station Unit 2 during the upcoming refueling outage, scheduled to begin in January 1987, in accordance with the guidance given in Generic Letter 84-11. This refueling
. outage is the first refueling outage for la Salle Unit 2.
You reported that
_a Salle Unit 2 has~a total of 129 welds that are susceptible to intergranudar 5 tress corrosion cracking (IGSCC). You indicated that eighty of these welds were treated with induction-heating-stress-improvement (IHSI) prior to the plant going into service. Your augmented IGSCC piping inspection plan consists of an inspection of a minimum of 31 velds to be performed by EPRI qualified in-spectors, and in addition, approximately forty welds are scheduled for IHSI treat-ment.
Based on the information provided by the above submittals, the staff has deter-mined that your augmented piping inspection plan for la Salle County Station, Unit 2 for the upcoming refueling outage is acceptable.
