EXEMPTION FROM APPENDIX R TO 10 CFR PART 50 - FIRE PROTECTION Re: Yankee Nuclear Power Station The Comission has issued the enclosed Exemption from certain requirements of Appendix R to 10 CFR Part 50, in response to your letters dated December 28, 1984, April 30, November 7, 1985 and August 22, 1986. This Exemption, which is being forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication, is from some of the. specific requirements of Appendix R for fire barriers, physical separation, or for-installation of fire detection and fixed fire suppression systems in specific areas of the Yankee plant. A Safety Evaluation detailing the staff's evaluation of the Exemption is also enclosed.
