=Re:

Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414 Technical Specification Amendment Surveillance Interval' Extension l

Dear Sir:

My letter of' June 10,' 1987 transmitted a proposed amendment to the Catawba l

Technical' Specifications.- In that letter we inadvertently omitted information concerning Surveillance 4.7.1.2.lb.3.

This surveillance verifies that the turbine-driven auxiliary feedwater pump steam supply valves open upon receipt of an

~

-Auxiliary Feedwater Actuation test signal. This equipment and instrumentation are I

highly reliable. 'They have been challenged eleven times and have operated successfully each time.

"Since this is a supplement to my June 10, 1987 letter, the $150.00 fee is not i

required.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91 (b) (1) the appropriate South Carolina State Official is being provided a copy of this amendment request.

Very truly yours,

[
