Subject:

SER Supplement No. 4, Section 8.3.1.4

Dear Sir:

Section 8.3.1.4 of Reference (b) indicated the Staff intended to review the diesel generator preoperational tects results to confirm that the diesel generator could start and run the 1500 hp startup feed pump while carrying the maximum Train A load. We have completed this testing and will make the test results availeble for the Staf f's con-firmatory review out of our Bethesda Licensing Office.

Briefly, this testing consisted of loading the diesel generator with the maximum available accident load and then starting the startup feed pump and verifying that the voltage and frequency transient was within acceptable limits. The startup feed pump remained connected to the diesel generator for at least 10 minutes. The results of this testing show that the voltage and frequency transient were within acceptable limits. As such, we request the acceptability of the test results be reflected in the next supplement to Seabrook's SER.

Very truly yours, kJ John DeVincentis Director of Engineering cc: Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Service List 8610150044 861009 O
