ENFORCEMENT CONFERENCE TO DISCUSS APPARENT VIOLATIONS IDENTIFIED
IN NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-148/86-01
On November 4, 1986, representatives from the University of Kansas met with
NRC Region IV personnel in Arlir.gton, Texas, to discuss the circumstances
surrounding five apparent violations and the licensee's position regarding
these apparent violations. The NRC's concern regarding the lack of adequate
attention to regulatory requirements was also discussed.
The meeting was held
at the request of the NRC. The attendance list for this conference is
attached as Appendix A to this summary.
The licensee discussed the circumstances surrounding the violations and their
corrective action or their planned corrective action. These corrective actions
included: . (1) posting of the required regulatory documents, (2)-labeling
radioactive material cc .tainer, (3) actuation of the facility alarm system,
(4) performance of a 10 CFR Part 50.59 safety evaluation, and (5) submittal of
a request to dismantle the reactor.
